Job Duration: 13-week contract

Description: The primary responsibility of a Cyto Tech is to analyze cellular specimens for any signs of disease or irregularities. They work with various types of samples, such as Pap smears, fine needle aspirations, body fluids, and other cellular samples. Using specialized staining techniques and high-powered microscopes, Cyto Techs carefully examine these samples, looking for cellular changes that may indicate the presence of disease. Cyto Techs require a strong background in biology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as extensive training in the interpretation of cellular morphology. They must possess excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work independently while following established protocols and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Mounting procedures, ThinPrep skills
• Experience with Ascitic fluid, Bronchial, Esophageal, Gastric, Spinal, Urine, Cytolyt Non GYN/Fixations
• Proficiency in assisting with procedures, making smears, and performing on-site staining
• Familiarity with GMS, PAP, and Immediate evaluation FNA's/Special Stains
• Preferred microscopy skills
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Willingness to consider first-time applicants on a case-by-case basis
• No weekend availability required
• National Certifications: ASCP-CT and FL license
• BLS certification is not required
• No on-call duty required
• No floating to sister facilities
• Willingness to discuss and accommodate block schedules during the interview
• Local candidates accepted within a 75-100 mile radius
• Pending state license not accepted
• No restrictions on requested time off (RTO) during the contract, to be discussed with the manager upon arrival
• Guaranteed hours apply after the first call off per pay period
• Special requirements: Previous experience in a community hospital work setting; proficiency with Cerner EMR; COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory (exemptions accepted for medical or religious reasons)
