Job description
Under the general direction of the Associate Athletic Director of Health, Performance and Wellness the Director of Sports Medicine will manage, on a day-to-day basis, the Sports Medicine program. Will have direct supervision of and focus the efforts of (10) sports medicine staff, based on the current organizational structure, on the evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and management of care for athletic injuries while developing and implementing injury reduction programming. Evaluate and make decision related to the coverage model for each of these sports. Institute new procedures and methodologies into practice in the Sports Medicine program. Monitor medical expenditures and record keeping. Coordinate the services of team physicians and consultants. Facilitate flow of information between physicians and consultants with Head Coaches. Develop and enhance the technical expertise and injury management abilities of existing staff, and identify highly trained new staff as the need requires. Will work with the director for the support areas of athletic performance, performance nutrition and mental health as part of the multi-disciplinary team. Ensure that UCLA student athletes receive the best care possible in all aspects of their athletic training, and when injured, treatment and rehabilitation. This includes the ability to build upon the current vision for the program and develop and implement short- and long-term goals for continued success.Percentage of Time:

Ability to manage a complex department in a university environment.

Demonstrated ability to supervise professional athletic training staff and collaborate with team physicians, physical therapists, dieticians, mental health providers, massage therapists, and insurance coordinator as part of multi-disciplinary team.

Demonstrated skills in budget and fiscal analysis.

Strong administrative and organization skills.

Required
Certified Athletic Trainer with the National Trainers Association in good standing with the NATABOC.

Knowledge of University policies and procedures.

Knowledge of Pacific-12 Conference and NCAA rules and regulations preferred.
