Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Energy & Sustainability Leader to lead execution of efforts to improve G-P's energy and environmental footprint. This remote/home-based position will report to our Director of Asset Centered Operations within the Manufacturing Advancement Group and will collaborate across G-P's manufacturing operations.

Our Team
Sitting within the G-P Manufacturing Advancement Group, this role will have substantial exposure and interaction with G-P's largest production facility teams, across Koch Industries, and with various external entities to provide best practice sharing and ensure optimization of energy resources.

What You Will Do

  • Work with GP Energy Leaders at each facility supporting sustainability efforts through energy optimization, beneficial reuse of by-products, and water use reductions.
  • Benchmark and understand drivers for all GP large manufacturing facilities.
  • Development of programs and partnerships to support energy optimization.
  • Lead GP effort to highlight environmental stewardship performance through relationships with National, Local, and Customer programs
  • Build and Support collaboration and knowledge sharing that is owner driven among the various GP manufacturing sites as well as across Koch Industries
  • Optimize the beneficial reuse of secondary materials produced within GP facilities through evaluating economic alternatives for process byproducts.
  • Support ENERGY STAR® program through facility benchmarking and capability building through plant certifications and industry recognition

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a preference for Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical system operations and impacts on energy usage obtained through 10+ years of experience in paper & pulp or other energy-intensive industry.
  • Demonstrated experience driving process improvement and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and executing projects and/or programs
  • Ability to travel roughly 50% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification


For this role, we anticipate paying $160-220K per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issues as a monetary bonus or in another form.
