About our group:

Seagate MNC is searching for a facilities water systems operations and maintenance technician. The technician operates and maintains industrial wastewater treatment and high purity water production equipment and supports general facilities operations. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Manager and will support Seagate's Bloomington, MN operations – a 700,000 square foot, highly technical facility, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

About the role - you will:

• 
  Operate and maintain site high purity water (HPW) and wastewater (WW)treatment systems.
• Assist the department with miscellaneous general work orders, emergency response, and other facility duties as required.
• Coordinate with lead, management, project managers, engineers, contractors and other personnel in order to understand and effectively complete assigned work.
• Read and interpret meters, gauges, and instruments for required system checks, while accurately recording results.
• Highlight issues to team lead and / or management
• Understand and respond appropriately to building management system alarms.
• Team with department colleagues to safely operate HPW and WW treatment systems
• Proactively contribute to other facility requirements when possible.
• Ensure high purity water is available for customers and meets required quality
• Ensures industrial wastewater systems meet discharge requirements
• Obtain water samples and conduct wastewater analysis with supplied analytical equipment.
• Adhere to all environmental and safety rules and regulations
• Be a member of the site Emergency Response Team (ERT)

• Knowledge of handling hazardous materials and emergency response protocols
• Ability to recognize and react to treatment process changes and demands
• Effective written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills in order to work closely with site management, engineering, staff and others
• Able to respond to emergency calls, work a 12-hour shift, work occasional overtime, and work occasional holidays as required

Your experience includes:

• 
  Experience with various water / wastewater treatment environments with knowledge of treatment standards, codes and regulation, methods and principles and practices of operating, maintaining, and repairing water treatment plant equipment, instrumentation, and associated systems
• Minimum requirement of strong understanding of pumps and piping systems, meters, gauges, process instrumentation
• Knowledge of safe handling and use of chemicals
• Knowledge of basic chemistry
