ViiV Healthcare was created in 2009 with an ambition of launching a “best in class” integrase inhibitor, maximizing value of existing HIV products and allowing acute company focus on developing initiatives, compounds and access that would advance the care and treatment of HIV. Since that time, the successful launches of 4 Dolutegravir-based products have increased internal and external stakeholder demand for Medical Affairs support to ensure appropriate use of and access to our products as well as to serve as an educational resource.

In addition, there is consistent progression of research on ViiV Healthcare compounds to address data gaps that exist for Dolutegravir and our newer compounds, which includes advancing cabotegravir clinical development for both HIV treatment and prevention. The NA Medical Affairs team continues to play a significant role in ensuring capable sites are identified and selected, researchers are properly educated and informed, and studies progress in timely manner.

Additionally, HIV therapy is now being actively managed by many players and this has elevated the need to provide HIV clinical and research information to formulary decision makers and payers groups, increasing demand for Medical Affairs partnership.

There is a critical need now to enhance the medical and scientific leadership capability to effectively and credibly exchange high quality medical and scientific information about ViiV products and the disease area with our customers. Without this, we will not be able to deliver on our promises to patients or to our shareholders and become industry-leading.

The Field Reimbursement Director (FRD) leads and coaches a team of 7-9 Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs) who provide technical managed care coverage, coding and payment support to customers on behalf of ViiV Healthcare. The FRMs provide field reimbursement support for the full ViiV Healthcare Product Portfolio and are expected to have deep local area market access expertise. The FRD will ensure team compliance with all relevant commercial practices including requirements that govern the provision of patient reimbursement support services.

The FRD must demonstrate deep technical understanding of medical and pharmacy coverage, coding, payment and distribution of specialty products and the rules and regulations that govern provision of reimbursement support. The primary responsibility of the FRD is to hire, develop and lead a team of FRMs to effectively engage customers to understand key coverage, coding, payment, product acquisition and affordability dynamics for ViiV Healthcare products in their local geography. In addition, the FRD provides management oversight and training to their team to ensure that all team members follow relevant SOPs and Ways of Working.

The FRD must effectively influence a team of internal Matrix stakeholders included, but not limited to Field Sales, Access Strategy & Marketing, Reimbursement Support Services, Payer Field Teams ( National and Regional), Channel Account Team, Strategic Operations, Brand Marketing as well as Finance. FRD coordinates communications with senior leaders among these matrix partners, while reporting directly to the Field Reimbursement - Lead.

The open positions are for the Mid-Atlantic & Northeast regions.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Recruit, hire, manage and coach highly qualified and effective Field Reimbursement Managers including normal and customary supervisory responsibilities such as budget management, performance evaluation, coaching, development, etc.
  • Accountability for all Field Reimbursement activities across multiple products, to include, but not limited to Field execution, training, compliance, auditing and performance.
  • Develop FRM capabilities:
    • Train team members on key technical information related to coverage, coding, payment and affordability
    • Identify gaps in current and future state capabilities and coordinate appropriate training

  • Further develop ViiV’s approach to Field Reimbursement Management
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and field reimbursement
  • Superior interpersonal skills with ability to lead, influence, and gain alignment across Matrix stakeholders
  • Establish and lead cohesive and comprehensive Patient Access and Affordability Strategy in assigned geography and provide leadership support for case escalations

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 plus years of experience developing and/or providing coverage, coding and payment information to provider customers for specialty injectable/infusible medicines in the US Market in a customer facing role OR 3 plus years of experience as a Regional or National Account Executive responsible for Payer Coverage
  • Ability to travel up to 70%
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • 5 years’ experience developing and/or providing coverage, coding and payment information to provider customers for specialty injectable/infusible medicines
  • Thorough understanding of the technical payer policy processes, systems and requirements for coverage, coding and payment for specialty injectable/infusible medicines
  • Demonstrated understanding of the rules, regulation and risks associated with provision of reimbursement support services and how to monitor and mitigate for those risks
  • Experience training and developing others to understand the technical payer policy processes, systems and requirements for coverage, coding and payment for specialty injectable/infusible medicines
  • Strong understanding and ability to communicate technical elements of coding and billing requirements at the National and Regional level across all settings of care
  • Comprehensive understanding of Medicare (Parts A, B, C and D), Medicaid, ADAP, Commercial Insurance and their associated reimbursement dynamics
  • Strong understanding of drug acquisition and dispensing in the specialty injectable/infusible space (role of Buy and Bill, Specialty Pharmacies, Specialty Distributors, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of third-party reimbursement support service vendors and how to effectively interact in a compliant fashion
  • Track record of strong leadership contributions
  • Experience managing, motivating ,coaching and developing direct reports
  • Ability to effectively navigate complex situations with internal and external customers that require sound judgment, problem-solving skills and awareness of rules and regulations that govern provision of reimbursement support services
