IT Project Manager Responsibilities
- Leads cross-functional teams to complete tasks and deliverables according to the project schedule, on time and with quality.
- Applies the IT process to lead projects to completion both on schedule and within budget.
- Requires people and resource management skills through others; part of cross-functional team required to complete projects.
- Ultimate responsibility for the success of the project toward achieving financial and performance targets resides with the Project Manager.
- Leads cross-functional teams focused on delivery of IT projects.
- Coordinates work performed by internal staff and external partners/customers by defining project requirements, performing feasibility and needs/impact assessments.
- Develops detailed project plans, schedules and budgets and manages all implementation processes including interdepartmental meetings, technical and functional resource identification and allocation, project timeline and progress tracking, change control process, testing, documentation, training and interdepartmental communications and activity management to ensure on-time delivery within budget constraints.
- Selects, develops and evaluates team resources to ensure efficient operation of the project and its goals. Projects may vary in number, size and complexity.
IT Project Manager Requirements
- STRONG Project Manager skillset (PM Processes/Best Practices). 5+ years corporate PM experience completing large scale/complex implementations with large/detailed project plans (critical path timelines in MSP) and budgets, skilled problem solver and change champion/leader.
- Experience with iValua Spend and Supplier Management or equivalent Procure to Pay Suites (SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred. EDI/ASN, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence Reporting experience a plus.
- Experience managing IT vendors (system integrators), adhering to SOW/T&C, Scope management and external vendor financials. Experience in North America Truck OEMs, Heavy Equipment manufacturing, or Aerospace/Defense or other capital goods business-to-business industries is preferred.
- IT PM leading a Supply Chain Visibility project, focusing on Supply Chain Logistics, EDI/ASN, Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Reporting.
- Extensive Agile environment experience
- Master’s degree- At least 6 years of technical project/program management experience and at least 1 year of lead experience
- OR Bachelor’s degree At least 8 years of technical project/program management experience and at least 1 year of lead experience
- OR At least 10 years of technical project/program management experience and at least 1 year of lead experience
- Experience speaking in large groups and delivering presentations to executive leadership. Must be able to take leadership feedback, quickly absorb and make decisions.
- Technical background/history in the IT Infrastructure space and experience managing large scale enterprise database environment upgrades utilizing platforms Linux.Unix, Windows, zOS (mainframe) and databases SQLServer (Windows), Oracle (Linux/Unix/Windows) and DB2 (Linux/Windows/zOS) is heavily preferreed.
- Experience in North America Truck OEMs, Heavy Equipment manufacturing, or Aerospace/Defense or other capital goods business-to-business industries is a plus.
- PMP and Agile certified
- Experience implementing large scale and complex IT initiatives and their budgets is required.
- Experience with implementations using Agile practices and continuous improvement.
- Must be a self-starter who is expected to develop detailed project scope, budget and schedules based on intent from leadership.
