The Manufacturing Equipment Operator will be an owner of the equipment and ensure proper set up, start up, shut-down procedures and safe operation. The operator will play a key role with improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost on existing manufacturing processes. This position is considered a Level 1 role within our manufacturing environment.


Essential Functions:

  • Engage in safe work behaviors and adhere to all organization’s safety standards and regulations
  • Responsible for equipment start-up, set-up, shut-down, malfunction detection, and inspection to resolve or escalate.
  • Feeds product into the hopper or other feeding device(s) into designated equipment
  • Responsible for the support of automation equipment in a manufacturing environment and support of existing automation systems.
  • Identify basic mechanical, electrical, and computer systems issues or alerts and reset appropriately
  • Confer with supervisors, peers, or engineers to plan and review work activities and resolve production problems
  • Explain assembly procedures or techniques to other workers
  • Understand the usage of calipers, quality department tools, and adhere to production quality metrics and standards
  • Follow 5s housekeeping principles and ensure cleanliness of equipment in your responsibility regularly


Ability to use machine interface software:

  • Operate tool functions in full production mode
  • Operate sub menu functions in operator mode
  • Basic trouble shooting on error codes – determine fault condition
  • Identify material status – replenishment and schedule
  • Able to work with technicians and engineers to further develop tool knowledge and ownership
  • Able to support process or tool experiments
  • Work in a team environment and lead operation of the Gen3 tool family


Mechanical Aptitude:

  • Remove and assemble powder block hardware
  • Dispense powder to hopper location
  • Perform basic calibration using gauge blocks or fixtures
  • Identify potential problems or unique process changes that can impact safety, product quality or machine performance
  • Develop machine work instructions or improvements to instructions

Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing background with demonstrated mechanical aptitude and process troubleshooting skills required.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environments
  • Self-starter who can execute projects and drive for results
  • Experience solving equipment problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
  • Acts like an owner; facilitates comradery of the team; open to others’ ideas and suggestions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge or understanding of PLCs
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of Office Suite Package tools (such as Outlook, Excel, Teams) to document and collect experiment or operations data


Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 year of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to navigate computer screens, automated information as needed in the manufacturing environment


Physical Demands:

Standing and walking (up to continuously); bend/stoop, twist neck and torso (frequently); reach, hold, grasp, push, pull, lift/carry raw material, finished product, tools and machinery up to 50 pounds (frequently); use seeing, hearing, and speaking.


Working Environment:

Work indoors and outdoors. This position is based at our Garland, TX facility.
