Position Overview:
Reporting to the VP of Contract Analytics, the Operations Analyst will be responsible for the analysis of all aspects of the company’s transportation portfolio. Will perform various software engineering tasks involved in the entire SW development life cycle from requirements analysis up to software maintenance. This position works closely with the Operations, Finance, and Executive teams to generate actionable insight through analytics.
In addition to the requirements listed below, the successful candidate will simply be "Curious”. That curiosity will support their drive to understand the data that moves the logistics, transportation and warehousing industries. It will motivate the Operations Analyst to research other industry participants and allied industries’ approaches to operational and financial KPIs.
Essential Job Functions:
- Mine data, perform quantitative analysis and create clear and actionable narratives about our operations, measuring multiple aspects of performance.
- Partner with colleagues facilitating the design, build and automation of reports/dashboards that provide insight into customer conversion and behavior.
- Build intuitive interfaces, infographics, and visualizations to tell stories with data.
- Create presentations with analysis and insights for leadership, financial and operations audiences.
- Follow best practices and SDLC to write high-quality, well-tested code.
- Develop clear and actionable code documentation.
- Utilize industry best practices to validate source data from multiple data sources and platforms.
- Filter and clean data, and review performance indicators and document and correct any data integrity issues.
- Q/A and publish Daily, Weekly and Monthly performance metrics and oversee publishing into a data visualization tool. (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Peak Board)
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Technical field. (computer engineering or science)
- Five (5) + years of analytical experience in a transportation or logistics environment.
- One (1) to Two (2) years of experience as a Software engineer within a data-driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to tell a story with data.
- Familiarity with multiple transportation modes including OTR, Regional, Drayage, and Intermodal.
- Demonstrable skills with MYSQL, PL/SQL, Python, R and Java and Rest API.
- Knowledge of UI/UX development tools and best practices.
- Knowledgeable in utilizing Code Repository e.g. GitHub, documentation of processes, procedures and code changes.
- Expert user of Microsoft Excel; with the ability to manipulate data with advanced formulas, pivot tables, and/or Visual Basic.
- Proficiency with data exploration and data visualization tools. (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Peak Board)
- Strong communication skills, as well as written and verbal presentation skills.
- Ability to balance numerous deliverables with varying degrees of urgency.
Pay:
The pay is competitive, depending on experience ($90k - $115K), and will be discussed during the in-person interview.
