Description

SAIC has an opening for a Principal Engineer - Electrical. This is a remote position that can be worked from any location in the U.S.

Experience with:

• Nano-fabrication using e-beam lithography, sputtering and evaporation of thin film deposition techniques
• Conventional photonics research
• electronics manufacturing - design, fabrication, and testing
• Printed Circuit Board Manufacturing
• Rapid Prototyping of Printed Circuit Boards
• Poled Polymers
• Fabrication of polymer optical multi-mode waveguides
• Optical performance of polymer rectangular waveguides
• Laboratory experience including optical alignment and measurement
• Researches, designs, develops, modifies, evaluates and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment
• Conducts experimental tests on equipment and evaluates results
• Develops specifications for selecting components and equipment to use
• May also review vendors' abilities to support development

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and (18) years or more experience; Masters and sixteen (16) years or more experience; PhD or JD and fifteen years or more experience. Ph.D in optics or electrical engineering. 10 to 15 years experience.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

• Nano-fabrication using e-beam lithography, sputtering and evaporation of thin film deposition techniques
• Laboratory experience including optical alignment and measurement

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness. Apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts. Viewed as an expert in the field. Participates with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives.

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Develops information, which extends knowledge in a given field. Information may form the basis of newly developed concepts, theories, and products.

FREEDOM TO ACT: Often acts independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs. Plans RD programs and recommends technological application programs to accomplish long-range objectives. IMPACT: Designs research and develops highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would have a long-term negative effect on organization's reputation and business posture.

LIAISON: Serves as consultant to top management in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements. Prime spokesperson on company's technical capabilities and future directions. Often instrumental in attracting and obtaining major new company business.

Clearance: U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Target salary range: $145,001 - $155,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
