Position Summary

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is a key member of our multidisciplinary eating disorder treatment team. In this role you will be primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation, and psychiatric follow up appointments. In addition to Psychiatric duties, the PMHNP also completes some nursing duties to assess and evaluate the medical functioning and stability of patients within the program.

Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.

Essential Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities

• Completes Psychiatric Evaluations and ensures medical necessity for all individuals enrolled in the PHP.
• Provides medication management services for individuals enrolled in PHP as needed. Available on-site at least weekly and by telephone in unusual or urgent situations related to medication.
• Provides consultation, education and related information to patients and the families to increase success of treatment and program engagement.
• Collaborates as part of a multi-disciplinary team with staff on clinical treatment planning and recommendations.
• Completes medical record and other documentation in a timely and accurate manner as needed to meet clinical, payer and other requirements.

Essential Nursing Responsibilities

• Serves as first point of contact in addressing, supporting, and triaging patient’s physical complaints and discomfort.
• As part of new PHP patient medical assessment; (1) performs phlebotomy to collect blood for lab analysis, (2) Completes comprehensive nursing assessment, (3) completes Electrocardiogram (EKG), (4) Collection of basic vitals including height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure, (5) basic urinalysis testing.
• May lead a basic health and wellness group as part of clinical programming.
• Perform other activities as requested by the Director and assume other appropriate medical responsibilities as necessary.

ISJPOP

Experience:

• Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. All necessary requirements must be met to practice adult psychiatry in IN.
• Experience with mental health PHP/IOP and/or psychiatric hospital experience desired.
• Superior communication skills working with patients, family members, community stakeholders and staff.
• Minimum of two (2) years of management experience in a behavioral health setting such as a hospital, outpatient clinic, or related service provider required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience treating the adult emotionally disturbed population which preferable would include young adults and adults in the mental health. Experience with co-occurring disorders and/or substance use disorders a plus. Eating Disorder treatment experience preferred.
• Performs duties independently, responsibly and with a high level of integrity.

Education:

• Must be a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Compensation Range

$60.00 – $80.00 (depending on level and location)
