Registered Nurse (RN), Part-time, First Shift (3a-3p), Emergency Department

UC Health is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the emergency department for the first shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

The Emergency Department Nurse will support the Medical Center's emergency room (ER) and Level I Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Unit Details:
  • UC Medical Center is the region's only adult Level I trauma center and Cincinnati's only Comprehensive Stroke Center certified by the Joint Commission.
  • The unit provides development opportunities to grow your personal, professional, and leadership skills through dynamic resources and education.
  • Our ED expansion is going to bring state of the art equipment, 6 SRU rooms, 4 large trauma bays, behavioral health pods, a more manageable nursing station, and a larger waiting room.



Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The practice of nursing requires specialized knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to groups and individuals. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care. The care is culturally based and age specific.
  • Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises, and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice.
  • Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs.
  • Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient.
  • Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit.
  • Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.



Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Associate's Degree, minimum required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred
  • Current OH RN License
  • Current BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements based on patient population needs
