Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Environmental Services practice seeks a Remote Senior Noise/Acoustics Consultant to lead our expanding US environmental services acoustics and noise practice. In this role you would collaborate with our scientists and engineers supporting clients in a variety of sectors, including energy and power utility markets, transportation, and government. The acoustics and noise team provides support throughout the project development, construction, and operation phases with a full suite of services including planning, design, monitoring, modeling, permitting, public outreach, expert witness, and post-construction studies.

This opportunity location is flexible, within our established US office locations and also has the opportunity to be remote.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage noise/acoustics projects and tasks from proposal to completion, delivering projects on schedule, and within scope and budget.
  • Identify project-specific acoustic design and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in, or manage staff, conducting site visits; data collection/field surveys, predictive modeling and analyses, post-processing, interpretation, documentation, and reporting.
  • Working to assist in streamlining and standardizing methods for data collection and analysis
  • Present at public meetings and appear as expert witness for acoustics projects.
  • Oversee and train junior staff in both field work, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Manage and expand acoustics team and service offerings,
  • Collaborate with internal team or sector leaders, such as the renewable energy group, to expand opportunities and client base.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends, software, and technology.
  • Support client relationship, business development and marketing activities

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of environmental acoustics/noise assessment is required. Experience in power and renewable energy noise assessment is preferred
  • Familiarity with noise data acquisition practices and software (vibration experience a plus, but not required)
  • Experience with sound measurement instruments, modeling software, and technical tools (e.g., sound level meters, Cadna-A, WindPRO, GIS, spreadsheets)
  • Experience managing multiple projects and tasks concurrently
  • Experience with identifying local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting requirements
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Strong work ethic, high ethical standards, and a desire for team success
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in, engineering or physical sciences, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible experience with technical specialization and expertise in acoustic assessment and compliance.
  • Project and task management experience is required.
