JOB OVERVIEW
ProCaps Laboratories, headquartered in Henderson, NV, is a 40+ year old large but still rapidly growing manufacturer of 200+ dietary supplement SKUs, along with a rapidly expanding line of nutritional bars and functional foods, all of which are 100% additive-free and manufactured using 100% solar power in our zero-carbon footprint facility. We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Buyer.
Reporting directly to the Director of Procurement, you will be responsible for sourcing quality raw material using scientific data collected from the vendor to determine if it meets our fundamental material specifications based on input from Research, Product Development, and CEO. Additional duties will be to summarize technical data, and compile reports of assigned materials as required by the company in maintenance of the organizational goal, which is manufacturing the best quality vitamins and supplements in the industry.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or Business is required; related certification, training and/or extensive experience may be considered in lieu of a relevant degree
  • 7+ years of experience in a procurement role in a Nutritional Supplement organization, with additional experience in food ingredient procurement
  • Proficient in data interpretation, process improvement, and strategic thinking
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Manufacturing and Distribution networks relative to the natural ingredient industry, both domestic and international
  • Knowledge of nutritional supplement, food, functional foods, tea, organics, and natural personal and skin care ingredients is highly desired
  • A passion for health, wellness, and nutrition will be key to an applicant’s success

OTHER ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Keeps abreast of current trends, practices, developments, and regulatory changes which would impact products, procedures, and/or supply, and communicate same to CEO and CFO/COO
  • Manage supplier relationships and rank suppliers based on various metrics, including returns, quality, and shipping compliance
  • Conducts intellectual material searches using technical information through a variety of resources
  • Employ strategic sourcing techniques using Procaps specification data to ensure the highest quality material for the best total cost of ownership
  • Maintain current price of all relevant materials for proper costing of products
  • Reviews procedures, purchase orders, quotes, and specifications needed to support product development activities
  • Compile technical summary reports highlighting material standardization, constituents used, and HPLC information to aide in qualifying material
  • Communicates in a timely fashion, all information regarding raw material sourcing, pricing, results, etc. to appropriate individuals in Procurement, Product Development, Product Administration, and others, as necessary
  • Keeps abreast of current trends, practices, developments, and regulatory changes, which would impact products, procedures, and/or supply
  • Participates in process improvements, material investigations, and vendor onboarding
  • Maintain constant focus on quality and drive continuous improvement within the procurement process; contribute to and support the organizational quality goals and programs by demonstrating vigilance and leadership on quality issues
  • Anticipate potential risks regarding material availability, identify actual challenges, and take proactive steps to achieve resolution while informing appropriate personnel
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selection methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Apply sound judgement while adhering to safety protocols while handling sensitive material
  • Create and maintain an integrated database of material standards used by our suppliers
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
