Our menu features a balanced selection of hearty and lighter fare, inspired by elevated American dishes and California's seasonal approach to food.

We are seeking a Server to join our Menlo Tavern team.

Our Servers are responsible for serving meals to guests in a warm, accommodating and professional manner and ensuring 100% guest satisfaction and all the steps of service are carried out flawlessly.

  • Greets all guests in a friendly manner.
  • Presents menus to the guest, answers questions, and makes recommendations regarding food, beverage and service.
  • Recites order back to the guest and ask questions regarding guests preference of preparation in order to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Shares specials of the day clearly and concisely, describing their preparation
  • Follow all safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols at all times.
  • Writes order on check or memorizes it.
  • Enters orders into the Point of Sale system.
  • Relays order and specifications to kitchen and bar and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
  • Recites specials of the day clearly and concisely, describing their preparation.
  • Regularly monitors station to ensure all guest needs are met.
  • Observes his/her stations to respond to any additional requests and to determine when the meal has been completed.
  • Totals bill and accept payment and makes change for the guest if necessary.
  • Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions desserts, brews coffee, etc. according to Hotel standards.
  • Cleans and polishes shelves and doors and equipment such as coffee urns and cream
  • Totals all receipts at the end of the shift, balances all cash and submits cash drop with all required paperwork.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and food presentation service standards.

  • Able to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern demonstrating empathy with the guest and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract multiply and divide.
  • Ability to move through a crowded room.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred. Three to six months Food & Beverage experience is also preferred. Excellent knowledge of wines and cocktails is preferred.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

Food Handler’s Certificate required. Certified in the responsible service of Alcohol. CPR/First-Aid certification preferred.

PAY SCALE

The pay scale for this position is $16.20 per hour plus gratuities.
