Temple University Beasley School of Law offers a range of academic programs for day, evening, online and low-residency students. The Law School is a dynamic educational environment with enthusiastic faculty and engaged students.

The Software Developer provides essential support to the academic programs and faculty by serving as the lead on the Law School’s learning management system (Canvas). In this capacity, they work directly with faculty on courses and noncredit trainings. They may also train faculty and students to effectively use the different features of learning management systems and other software related to instruction and noncredit trainings.

The Software Developer provides crucial technical support for exam administration in each semester.

They assist the Director of Instructional Design in the creation and development of online learning materials and experiences for a variety of courses, workshops, and graduate programs.

They may also assist with web-page design and development using high-quality application systems, employing practices to ensure the Law School’s suite of web pages complies with Section 508 and 504 requirements for accessibility. The Software Developer’s clients can range from faculty web pages, academic centers/institutes, student organizations such as student journals and the Temple Law Review, and Law School units/departments such as Admissions and Career Services.

They will be a member of a capable team of customer-service-oriented tech professionals. They may provide technical support to classrooms, programs, and academic events on an as-needed basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of related technical experience is required. Experience with Learning Management Systems for higher education, experience with Canvas is a plus.

Experienced with integrated technologies and digital A/V systems.

Experience with website development, responsive design, and software, such as Drupal and WordPress. Experience with Custom Theme Development, Child Theme Development, and Plugin/Module Development. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to administer Canvas or other LMS software.
  • Ability to provide classroom technology support including integrated technology and digital audiovisual systems.
  • Familiarity with different learning environments and design of online course materials.
  • Ability to use Adobe suite, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite of Applications.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as HTML5 / CSS3, AJAX, JavaScript, PHP, WCAG 2.0 & W3C Accessibility, and Git.
  • Ability to work independently with good communication and organizational skills with clients and other team members.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty and staff and provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of Browser compatibility.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education or academic institution
  • Experience in audio and video recording and editing.
  • Teaching/training experience.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
