We are seeking
a Systems Engineer to provide technical expertise for architecture, solution sets, and new technology updates, as well as support pre-sales activities. Will assist in the analysis, design, and development of fully integrated technology solutions within the Astrea service provider space.


Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Management, Sales and Integration teams in a pre-sales process and provide technical knowledge and support of various technology vendors, specifically, networking, virtualization, security, DOCSIS, FTTH, and VoIP technologies and solutions.
  • Understand and develop project deliverables, design, challenges, and timelines to meet specific business needs and objectives.
  • Determine complex software and hardware solutions and configure products and services for deployment.
  • Engineer required solutions including bill of materials, scope of work, and labor estimation.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to explain features, benefits, and areas for improvement to internal support staff.
  • Create and deliver educational materials for the sales teams within assigned technology verticals.
  • Develop, manage, and implement support processes and procedures with assigned technologies and teams to meet customer experience goals and company directives.
  • Develop and foster professional relationships with the sales and support teams, vendor contacts, and customers.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and stay abreast of technical advancements in primary functional areas of responsibility.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager.


Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer and Network Administration, Computer Science, or Engineering.
  • 3+ years in Network Engineering within the Service Provider space required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is preferred.
  • Ability to create technical documents, presentations, and diagrams using Visio.
  • OEM experience with Cisco, Calix, Accedian, and others.
  • Experience with IP/MPLS networks including IP routing and switching, MPLS, BGP, IGPs and core service provider routing architectures.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and IOS-XR operating systems.
  • Experience with Optical Networks including Grey-Wave Fiber, IPoDWDM and FTTH technologies.
  • Experience with automation technologies and solutions including FirstWave, Ansible, Python, RESTCONF and NETCONF.
  • Server administration and familiarity with Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
  • Security technologies including cybersecurity best practice, NIST certification, DDOS mitigation, and threat mitigation/avoidance.
  • Disaster recovery, avoidance, and mitigation methodologies.
  • Ability to lead and/or contribute to technology demonstrations, training, or design sessions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other web-based applications.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, interpersonal and research skills.
  • Well-organized with an ability to work in a high-pressure environment producing accurate work under close deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative and handle various tasks simultaneously while working efficiently, effectively, and independently under minimal supervision.


The shift
is Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm CST but must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as necessary.


Additional Information

  • May be required to participate in an on-call rotation with other members of the Network Operations team.
  • Approximately 10% travel throughout Wisconsin and Michigan may be required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
