Department Summary
The RESM Program collaborates with diverse organizations such as regional professional sport teams, collegiate athletics, municipal, state, and federal parks and recreation agencies, along with nonprofit recreation and sport organizations. The RESM Program serves 150 undergraduate and 40 online graduate majors and is undergoing a redesign. The Department of KHPR has over 1,300 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate students across several specializations. Position Summary
The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation (KHPR) invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position (one year limited-term appointment) within the Recreation, Event, and Sport Management (RESM) Program. Candidates are expected to have extensive teaching experience in both online and face-to-face courses. The teaching responsibilities associated with this position may include undergraduate and graduate courses such as foundations, law and risk management, finance and economics, marketing, diversity, operations, ethics, and internship. The teaching load is 24 credit hours during the academic year (i.e., 4-4 teaching load).

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in recreation, leisure, sport management, or related field
  • Successful college teaching experience of various recreation, event, and sport management graduate and undergraduate courses
  • Commitment to teaching and learning with diverse student populations and maintaining an inclusive culture
  • Ability to teach both face-to-face and online courses (via Canvas)

Preferred Qualifications
  • College teaching experience of 2-3 years
  • Work experiences in recreation, sport, and event industries
  • Experience in supervising internship students
