JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION PURPOSE: We are looking for a memorable Sushi Chef who has a passion for food. The Sushi Chef will effectively assist in the operation of prepared foods and work with the Sushi Chef to achieve sales and customer service goals established for the department. A Sushi Chef has a keen eye for Food Safety and Sanitation and will be able to help in stocking, production, and merchandising while offering unmatched customer service.

Responsibilities: A Sushi Chef is a responsible, friendly person who can safely work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service.

A Sushi Chef’s responsibilities include:

• Observe and support all store rules and company policies.
• Serve as a role model and trainer for providing superior customer service.
• Responsible for production, ordering and receiving, merchandising, controlling inventory sanitation, and safety within the sushi department.
• Responsible for daily preparation work in the department, filleting fish, and preparing sushi to fill sushi case and customer orders while maintaining AJ’s quality standards.
• Assist with menu planning and development including creativity and experimentation with new trends and menu ideas and recipes for sushi.
• Ensure compliance with heath department and weights and measures requirements.
• Maintain open communication with all members of the meat department.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
• Maintain a high degree of cleanliness throughout preparation area.
• Must be able to correctly operate a cash register including proper cash handling and all forms of tender per company policy, e.g., cash, checks, credit cards ATM.
• All other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Desired qualifications include:

• Friendly and customer service oriented. Interest in food and cooking a plus.
• Customer service, restaurant, barista, food service, grocery or similar experience desired
• Self-motivated, with a high attention to detail, quality and presentation
• Skills to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers
• Ability to work independently, effectively manage time and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written directions
• Ability to reliably meet required work schedule and adhere to company attendance policy
• Must be 18 years of age

Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for an extended period:

Standing, Sitting, Lifting + Stocking (Up to 50 lbs.), Pushing, Keyboarding, Telephone Use, Walking, Bending

Salary Ranges:

The range displayed reflects the range the company reasonably expects to pay for the position. The actual compensation offered to the selected individual(s) will depend on their relevant education, training, or experience, among other bona fide factors.

Minimum Pay Rate: $14.61/Hr.

Maximum Pay Rate: $18.11/Hr.
