Associate Program Director, Software Development


The Associate Program Director, Software Development in Radiology Workflow Solutions is a member of the program management team responsible for the Product Development Process, organizational communication, project planning and overall process execution best practices. This role will focus on leading software and hardware product development projects in the medical device diagnostic imaging industry and working with a cross-functional team; incorporating elements from agile and waterfall project management.


YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSBILITIES


The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Program Director, Software Development, are to:

  • Apply program planning best practices to multiple projects, which may include supporting senior project leads for complex projects, leading multiple, reasonably complex new product development projects, sustenance projects, and supporting functional initiative;
  • Facilitate application of the product development process to ensure adherence to governance model;
  • Apply broad technical knowledge with a focus on software development to ensure efficient implementation and execution by scaling process & governance, risk-based development approach, content based planning, and organizational communication;
  • Design History File (DHF) structure definition, budget and schedule management, including mitigation of risks and resolution of issues;
  • Support portfolio level planning by providing inputs to scenario planning and project roadmaps, which may include resource plans and actuals for all assigned projects, identification and execution of efficiency improvements and project synergies.
  • This role will be based in Indianola, PA (Pittsburgh, PA area). Relocation assistance may be offered for this role.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Scientific, Engineering, or other technical discipline;
  • Significant and relevant industry experience in product development and/or project management;
  • Relevant experience in a regulated industry, preferably Medical Device, Software in a Medical Device (SiMD), or Software as a Medical Device (SaMD);
  • Demonstrated product development experience with hardware and/or software;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing cross-functional teams with representatives from R&D, Product Supply, Quality, Regulatory, Medical/Clinical and Marketing; and ability to influence and motivate teams/individuals without direct reporting relationship(s);
  • Sound judgement to make difficult decisions where technical problems, commercial challenges, and/or lack of resources can affect the program;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with program team members and functional managers from all departments associated with product development, as well as senior managers in the NPD Governance Committees;

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant industry experience or 8+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree;
  • At least 7 years of experience in product development and/or project management;
  • Experience with medical devices and related software development;
  • Experience working with agile framework;
  • New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, or an MBA;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Document Management, and ERP software systems (e.g. Enovia, SAP, etc.).
