STATEMENT OF DUTIES

General Statement Of Duties:
The Audio Visual (A/V) Engineer I is responsible for the support and maintenance of courtroom A/V technologies. This includes operating, maintaining, installing, configuring, repairing, and upgrading A/V products in the courtroom while also ensuring optimal performance and integration with other systems such as the Colorado Judicial Department’s (Department) network and court reporting equipment. The A/V Engineer I will analyze and resolve A/V issues in a timely and accurate fashion, as well as support user needs where required.

Distinguishing Factors:
This position is distinguished by its focus on A/V troubleshooting assistance for the Department and IT staff and implementing courtroom A/V best practices. A/V Engineers are responsible for monitoring site performance and up-time through ongoing customer communication, recommend and initiate process improvements to maximize operational efficiency, and supports a variety of projects and tasks related to A/V needs.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

60% travel is expected, with occasional overnight travel a possibility, as this position covers multiple courthouses in the Southeastern Colorado region. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation. Some work from home is a possibility.

The chosen applicant must be able to arrive at the Pueblo Combined Courthouse within 1 hour of request.

A preferred applicant will be self-motivated with limited supervision and demonstrate excellent customer service.

Experience supporting permanently installed AV systems inside of court setting or higher education is preferred. Supporting corporate or hospitality AV is a plus.

We believe in the in-house support (and design) of our courtroom AV systems of a statewide judicial system and recognize that this a new and developing frontier in the AV industry that is not duplicated anywhere else. As such, ITS realizes that the chosen candidate will rarely have courtroom AV experience. Therefore, ITS believes in the importance of on-the-job training and a collaborative team atmosphere to achieve mission success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage and administer the Department’s A/V infrastructure and its associated equipment.
Advise on the purchase of new A/V equipment and assist with its installation.
Collaborate with all Department users concerning A/V system related issues and implement new technology solutions when necessary.
Participate in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of statewide A/V and video conference systems, including electronic docket monitors, court reporting equipment, and video conferencing equipment.
Maintain documentation for all instances of A/V and video conferencing equipment as it relates to maintenance, replacement cycles, and capital asset tracking.
Manage various vendor-based system installations and service issues.
Receive and respond to incoming tickets regarding A/V and video conferencing equipment/software issues, and occasionally requiring work to be completed outside normal business hours.
Provide end-user training to Department staff on the operation of various A/V and video conferencing technologies.
Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex A/V hardware/software problems in the courtroom and recommend and implement corrective solutions.

Travel throughout the state of Colorado is required and employee shall be compensated for per diem and mileage according to the Department’s travel fiscal rules.

Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and may be required to drive at nighttime and occasionally in inclement weather.

Applicant shall attend meetings and training as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

No formal supervisory responsibility. Responsibility for one's own work product and work within a unit performing similar functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related area of study and one (1) year of recent experience in the A/V field. Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education. Applicant must have knowledge of professional audio systems, digital video distribution systems, video conferencing technologies, and basic knowledge of data/telephone networks. Applicant must have the ability to troubleshoot software and hardware through device level interfaces, as well as at the component and wiring level.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust and focus, and the ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places and the risk of electrical shock. Frequently handles emergency or crisis situations and may be subject to varying and unpredictable situations and work hours. The employee is subject to frequent interruptions, multiple calls and inquiries, and may occasionally handle absentee replacement on short notice. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
