SUMMARY:
The Contract Manager supports all aspects of both behavioral health and medical payer contracting throughout the lifecycle: develop and refine payer contracting strategy, participate in payer contract negotiations, analyze the financial value of contract terms, write and edit contract language, implement and communicate contract terms, and respond to both internal and external questions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with leadership to develop strategy for payer contracting.
  • Negotiate financial and operational payer contract terms, including value-based contracts.
  • Model the financial impact of various contract proposals and interpret the models to inform contract decision-making.
  • Draft, review, and interpret contract language.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships externally with payers as well as internally with partner departments.
  • Work closely with revenue cycle, credentialing, enrollment, and other internal teams to ensure contract terms are understood and executed accurately.
  • Organize, update, and manage key contract terms through meetings, trackers, and databases.
  • Communicate and educate applicable staff on key aspects of new contracts; answer internal and external questions.
  • Research payer market share, products and contracting processes to provide perspective on the strategy for expansion into new markets.
  • Ensure the efficiency of processes and create new workflows and/or tools, as needed, and proactively seek innovative ways to streamline operations.

Office or Home office environment:
This is a fully remote job. Work involves sitting most of the workday greater than 50% of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally. Typing and applying pressure with the fingers and palm required. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken and written word. Conveying detailed or important spoken instructions to customers and other workers accurately, clearly, and at times, quickly. Hearing: Perceiving nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information in oral communication, and to make the discriminations sound. Repetitive motion: Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally with force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading, primarily on a computer monitor. Occasional travel required for offsite meetings and events. Normally less than 10% of the time. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with healthcare contract terms, reimbursement methods, or contract administration principles preferred and has basic contract language interpretation skills.
  • Experience with project management including documentation, attention to detail, diligent follow-up, and organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to concisely summarize information.
  • Sound judgment in responding to inquiries; understands when to escalate inquiries.

  • Maintain privacy of all patients, teammates, and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes as required by HIPAA
  • Comply with all HIPAA regulations regarding corporate integrity, and security obligations. Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful behavior or activity
  • Comply with all OSHA regulations and regularly scheduled trainings
  • Comply with all regularly scheduled harassment trainings

The base pay range for this opening is $118,080 to $131,200. According to your skill level, relevant experience, education level, and location, you will receive compensation that fits appropriately within the range.
