The Accounting Manager position will provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting on key operating metrics including, but not limited to, line losses, labor productivity, recovery, fresh/reman, all of which will be presented to operational management. This role will help develop manufacturing cost standards for materials and labor, including set-up of annual bill of materials as well as supporting strategic initiatives related to various cost improvement and business optimization projects for the Fruit Business. The person in this role will help develop more robust reporting to assist operational management in decision making, support and review preparation of month-end close entries and will provide cost estimates for new products and product extensions.

The salary range for this role is $79,352 - $134,888.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily and weekly reporting on key operating metrics including Line losses, Labor productivity, Recover
  • Inventory management – work with logistics on closure of Production orders.
  • Track waste in the business and inventory aging analysis.
  • Support strategic cost analysis – Fresh & Reman, strategic sourcing versus in-house production.
  • Support tracking of monthly variances.
  • Support Controller on process improvement initiatives.
  • Process daily aggregate labor in BY/SAP accurately and timely.
  • Review, analyze and explain variance in VPC labor actual vs. plan. Analyze labor by job code, variety and total.Investigate and communicate variances to plan to plant management.
  • Develop AOP standards for manufacturing and warehouse labor by working with Production Supervisors in developing crewing schedules, wage rates, through puts, and other variables that impact labor and incorporate them in the AOP.
  • Review and update the annual volumes by ship ID for fresh, reman, unlabeled, direct and indirect packs. This should be done for AOP and L.E. as needed.
  • Prepare daily crewing comparisons of actual staffing vs. plan and distribute. Follow up and research with appropriate Production Supervisors variances from plan.
  • Review and analyze daily Preliminary and Facility reports.
  • Review weekly Flash and Production Stat reports with operational management.
  • Prepare month-end VPC close entries.
  • Assist with set-up of Bills of Materials, Routings, and DM Item Master.
  • Perform special studies, special projects and new product cost developments as requested.
  • Provides cost estimates for new products, product extensions, requests by operations and corporate on costing scenarios due to local or corporate initiatives, and/or reactions to product availability and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5-7 years' relevant work experience. CPG experienced preferred.
  • Must be able to work in groups as well as be able to make independent decisions.
  • Must be able to supervise Cost Accountant and clerical personnel.
  • Must have effective written and oral communications.
  • Medium to superior proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of Standard Costing, specifically Product Costing, accounting theory, general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), BPCS information system.
