JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Crane Operations, the Crane Operator Trainee operates various cranes/heavy equipment. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.

JOB DUTIES:

• Operates container cranes to move container.
• Maintains complete and accurate daily operation logs for container cranes and crane maintenance.
• Assists with rigging crane cables and chains during heavy lifts.
• Assists with maintenance by checking and adjusting brakes, lubrication, and replacement of worn crane cables.
• Keeps equipment clean.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Good hand-eye coordination and depth perception skills essential.Ability to understand verbal and hand signals necessary.Ability to climb and work at high elevations essential.Knowledge of rigging, safety, crane capabilities and capacities, and general working knowledge of various vessels necessary.Operates container cranes to load and unload containerized and break bulk cargo.Is adept in controlling all functions such as hoist, trolley, gantry and boom motions simultaneously while in close quarters.Occasionally required to lift, move or carry fifty pounds.Vision requirements: Visual acuity of 20/40 with or without corrective lenses for each eye, minimum depth perception of 6/9, and minimum peripheral vision of 70 degrees for each eye.The ability to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the GPA staff on all levels of administration including immediate supervisor, management and co-workers required.

Experience

• Experience in operating cranes/heavy duty equipment Preferred

Education

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses & Certifications

• TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential
• Driver's License - Valid state driver's license
