We are seeking a Facilities Assistant to work part-time for our Northwest Indiana locations, primarily in Merrillville, IN. The Facilities Assistant is responsible for performing any of the following as directed by the Facilities Director: repairing, servicing and upkeep of all the units and systems of all residential properties and commercial complexes. The Facilities Assistant, in conjunction with the Facilities Director, shall ensure that all properties are safe, clean, and energy efficient at all times.

Job Duties:

  • Meet with the Facilities Director on a regular basis to determine tasks required for completion.
  • Provide proof of or attend an OSHA 10 Construction course.
  • Effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
  • Check email daily during scheduled workdays.
  • Start and complete a project, to include cleanup, in a timely fashion.
  • Keep all areas safe and up to safety standards as set forth by OHSA, the State of Indiana, FSSA, BDDS, BQIS, and the towns or cities in which the houses are located.
  • Inform the Facilities Director if anything is needed to ensure health and safety of each person and the upkeep of each residence.
  • Complete quarterly or seasonal cleaning as directed by the Facilities Director.
  • Complete upkeep of the Merrillville office building which may include but is not limited to; Grass cutting, weed control, snow plowing, weed control around the North side of the building, trash collection around the building, parking lot maintenance, interior cleanliness, etc. This building is a priority for upkeep and general appearance.
  • Use time efficiently by planning weekly and daily projects. Time must be used wisely and as efficiently as possible.

  • Climbing ladders.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the human service field is preferred.
  • Ability to perform independently.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet all specified deadlines.
  • Oral and written command of the English language required.
  • Must be organized.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be willing to accept direction and feedback.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations is preferred.
  • Auto insurance liability limits of $50,000/$100,000/$50,000 and an acceptable driving record.
  • 18 years or older.
