Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging products, is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Laminator Assistant position at their facility in Rhinelander, WI. Qualified candidates should have some experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Job Description

HOURS: 11PM-7AM

• Set-up and run of 16 head laser perforation.
• Set-up and run of adhesive lamination.
• Set-up and run of Anti-fog coating.
• Set-up and run inline.
• Potential to run adhesive/cold seal applications.
• QA of hole size and patterns of laser and airflow.
• Work with others and leadership to attain continuous process improvement.
• Safety conscious and puts safety first in their daily routine. Safety is placed before risk (focus over accomplishment). Associate has a focus on their own safety and sets a safety example for their team, new associates, and everyone in the plant. Associate is committed to Safety policies by suggesting improvements and noting deficiencies.

• Presents a respectful team approach when directing others, working with support departments, or Plant Supervision.
• Able to communicate needs and ask for help when needed.
• Looks t fellow operators, supervisors, leads and others as teammates, palacing group goals over individual goals.

• Works to have technical competence and skill by mastering customer and technical requirements of the job jacket, specification sheet, Filemaker Pro and other reference information to support accuracy and quality of the printed product.
• Respectfully defers to senior operators and specialists as resources.
• Learn from and overcome machine, product, and other issues.
• Supports continuous improvement through team participation, including being open to and considering new ideas, arriving prepared and on time, active meeting participation, following through on action items and being innovative to our processes. Teams supported include the Printpack Performance System (PPS), machine teams, safety teams or any project team that we need to solve issues.
• Actively participate in directing and developing others through coaching, reviewing feedback, and supporting training and/or cross training. This includes the operator’s assistants, associate peers, and those in support departments.
• Maintain a solid work ethic and enthusiasm as time goes on, own the process, come to work ready to work and seek out the plan of the day. Display a long-term positive attitude and use this to find excellence and work through issues as they arise.
• Learn and monitor the equipment and the production process for quality and accuracy.
• Front end equipment setup.
• Willing to work on and assist on other machines as needed.
• Learn a solid knowledge of the raw materials and film that goes into the product and adjust machine conditions to support specific structures.
• Learn the PRISM system and accurately provide data to PRISM in support of materials management and consideration of cost.
• Learn to troubleshoot with timely and effective problem-solving. Include others to work through issues and learn.
• Share skills and techniques acquired.
• Accomplish performance “objectives” including but not limited to, productivity, waste, quality, safety and attendance.
• Cultivate leadership skills with consideration to all roles within the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure your own safety while assisting in the operation of the machine operations.
• Prepare printed rolls for lamination (primary unwind).
• Prepare back stock rolls for lamination (secondary unwind).
• Place rolls in machine and prepare for splicing (both unwinds).
• Assist in removing rolls from rewind.
• Remove and weigh startup rolls at beginning of job.
• Clean NIP roll in machine during setup and downtime to prepare for startup.
• Perform daily housekeeping.
• Remove and weigh waste from all unwinds or rewind, if necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 year of experience as a Laminator Operator / Assistant preferred.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure and possess basic computer skill.

Machine Specific Requirements:

Run adhesive laminator/ anti-fogger/with outboard laser perforation to support the production of high OTR (Oxygen Transfer Rate) structures (typically fresh produce). In addition, run Extruder Laminator 31 as needed.
