Who We Are
Our team, Electromobility North America, is a vital part of the Electromobility function for Volvo Group Trucks Technology. E-mobility is responsible for the development of electrified powertrain solutions for today and the future. The group consists of many departments that develop systems and components for the electrified powertrain such as batteries, motors, chargers, high-voltage system, and ePTOs.

E-mobility North America is the local development and support office that delivers products for the North America market. Our team uses deep customer knowledge to break down regional customer features into technical requirements to feed back into the design. We support the global team in the development of the e-mobility system and are responsible for the performance verification and delivery of the vehicle. E-mobility North America also helps with cross functional support to educate and prepare other functions in the Volvo Group for the electrification future.

What You Will be Doing
As the Lead Engineer for Charging Systems in North America you will be a key player in ensuring that the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) developed by our teams are adapted for the US market. You will develop and maintain relationships with global counterparts which includes keeping stakeholders up to date with specific US trends and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
  • Supplying technical specifications, in cooperation with the General Safety Regulations, that is included in the ’Scope of Supply’ agreement.
  • Ensuring interoperability with the EVSE over time (for example include interoperability check in charging related software updates)
  • Participating as the engineering representative in meetings with EVSE Partners organized by Volvo Energy
  • Supporting the EVSE Partner in fault tracing, if needed, and following up on any issues thoroughly by documenting via Customer Product Issues (CPIs).
  • Providing technical expertise within the Volvo organization for any EVSE verification or operations requests, as needed.
  • Supporting Volvo Energy and the other Volvo brands if they have technical questions related to EVSE.
  • Partnering closely with the Electric Vehicle Systems team in Gothenburg.

You are an experienced engineer who enjoys working in a global environment and cross-functionally with both technical experts and customers. Fulfilling our customer’s needs is what drives you and your ability to remove obstacles and influence a positive outcome has made you successful in your career. You understand the importance of communication and have an ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your ability to deep-dive into a multitude of technical areas within electromobility systems as a future technology in addition to solving quality issues experienced by customer’s now are valuable traits in this role.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
  • 8–12+ years of experience in product development, preferably within electromobility
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas
    • Electromobility products, systems, and components
    • Verification of electromobility systems or components
    • Electronic platform or system design
    • Component development and industrialization processes in Volvo Group Trucks Technology
    • Project management
Preferred:
  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Commercial driver’s license
  • Experience in heavy-duty vehicle applications and vehicle integration
