HCA Solutions is currently seeking qualified candidates for the Nurse Practitioner positions at the Western State Hosptial. These positions will be filling RN job duty assignments. Shifts are 12 hours, day and night shift needed. Experience working in a Correctional setting is a plus.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• 
  Provides professional nursing services, health care and treatment to offenders in an adult correctional institution.
• Assesses offenders’ health problems and needs, prepares and administers prescribed medications, initiates emergency interventions, first aid measures, and assists physician.
• Develops and implements medical/nursing guidelines and maintains medical records.
• Provides training as necessary to staff and education to offenders about healthy lifestyles.
• Work under an assigned manager, who will be available for consultation during regular business hours. Assist the physician with examination and treatment of patients.
• Obtain and record vital signs of patient throughout interactions.
• Help with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures.
• Keep comprehensive medical records of all patient interactions.
• Make sure all equipment is sterilized and maintain clean working environment.
• Educate participants about health management concepts using evidence-based guidelines.
• Comply with all state requirements and facility policies and procedures.
• Perform all other nursing duties as needed.

• An up-to-date NP license
• Current CPR certification
• Current PPD (Tuberculosis Skin Test), within past year
• Current Covid Vaccination, if available
• Minimum of one year of experience
• Prefer experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment.
• Prefer previous experience working with mental health patients.
