We are looking for a Supervisor of Commercial Renewable Operations to provide leadership to technicians in several areas of specialization associated with operation and maintenance of renewable assets (wind, solar, battery storage).
This is a full-time, permanent position. The individual selected for this role must be a leader, who is technically savvy, self-motivated and can work with minimal supervision.

This position will oversee Duke Energy’s Wind Operations at the
Cimarron Wind Farm
in Cimarron, KS.
Cimarron Wind Farm is a 131.1 MW onshore wind power project that consists of 57 Siemens SWT 2.3-93 Wind Turbines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of best practice routines, work process improvement, maintenance and operation procedures and all aspects of Operational Excellence
  • Provides leadership to technicians and contractors in several areas of specialization associated with operation and maintenance of renewable assets (wind, solar, battery storage)
  • Oversees renewable field maintenance, managing 3rd party service providers required to provide deliverables outlined in contracts such as O&M agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, EPC agreements (Engineer, Procure, & Construct), etc.
  • Coordinates multiple technicians, vendors, contractors, and suppliers to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective renewables operations
  • Ensures compliance with all operational, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Provides leadership and accountability to achieve desired safety results
  • Monitors station environmental, health and safety objectives and ensures they are met
  • Engages Contingent Workers for limited periods of time
  • Communicates performance metrics, goals and expectations to direct reports and contractors
  • Works independently with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work
  • Responsible for work management processes including scheduling, coordinating, supervising all work activities within the work group for one large or multiple small locations
  • Utilizes Maximo software for planning purposes daily
  • Oversees any warranty work that needs to be done
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School/GED
  • Associates Degree or Technical certification
  • In lieu of Associate degree or Technical certification – High School/ GED and (5) years of related work experience
  • External Candidates – in addition to education requirement, (3+) years of related work experience.
  • Internal Candidates - in addition to education requirement, (3+) years of technical experience with Duke Energy as a Wind Technician. Must also have Turbine Technician-2 and Electrical Operator-2 JPM Completed.
  • Equipment Performance, Predictive Maintenance, Equipment Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental, Health and Safety knowledge. At this level equipment specific JPMs will be required (I/E)
  • Ability to complete Supervisor job performance measures within the probationary period.
  • Ability to climb turbine towers (up to 300ft) daily is a requirement of this position
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study.
  • Experience with Siemens 2.3 MW turbines
  • Experience with multiple wind/solar turbine supplier technologies
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
  • Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Experience in overseeing contractors and administering programs relating to policy, contracts & procedures
  • Experience in the areas of Industrial safety and electrical hazards
  • Experience with limit and proximity switches, photo-electric sensors, and solenoid valves
  • High voltage and substation maintenance experience
  • Multiple years of experience with wind turbines: troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
  • Familiarity with most electrical and mechanical components in Siemens: bridge rectifier, diodes, fuses, relays, solenoid valves, thermal breakers, contactors, yaw motors, accumulators, pressure relief valves, gearbox motor retrofit, pitch motors, pitch batteries, PT 100, Maxwell Ultra Cap capacitors, IGBT, and main breaker
  • Knowledge & experience with electrical circuits, electro-mechanical construction principles.
  • Knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety measures/controls
  • Basic understanding of pneumatics, and basic understanding of hydraulic systems
  • Work management processes, Maximo scheduling, contractor oversight, contract management, project management
  • OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Certification
  • CPR and AED Training Certification
  • TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
  • Forklift certified
  • Microsoft Office Including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Any travel to projects
  • Operate equipment including but not limited to forklifts and commercial motor vehicles
  • Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards
  • Exposure to noisy, dusty conditions, chemicals, or solvents
  • Ability to lift 75lbs individually
  • Ability to climb turbine towers (up to 300ft) daily
  • Walking, Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds
  • Working in all-weather outdoor conditions (extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)
  • Working at heights greater than 300 feet daily
  • Completion of OEM or third-party technical specialty training program.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and preemployment physical prior to hire
  • Safety Weight Requirement - This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job. The purpose of this restriction is to ensure that all weight rated equipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner within maximum allowed weight loading.
  • Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
