The Opportunity:
The Region Manufacturing Manager is responsible for assisting region plants in driving improvement in the overall manufacturing process with primary focus on waste reduction, productivity improvement and reliability system processes. As part of the region resource team will work directly with manufacturing facilities and leadership teams to develop and execute plans to strategically position plants for optimal performance and growth. Build effective partnerships with plants to improve overall plant productivity, leverage best practices and provide consistency throughout the region. The RMM's are responsible for coaching and mentoring plant managers and leaders in the areas of safety, quality, cost and productivity. They will also assist with lean accelerators such as PES and champion Lean Six Sigma projects in their area of responsibility.

  • Works closely with deployments to ensure alignment to WestRock standards, processes and procedures

  • Is part of the region resource team to drive results across the region
  • Works with region leaders on establishing priorities to achieve desired results
  • Trains across region on leader standard work and tools to complete
  • Provides feedback and insight to the deployment implementations

  • Understanding of corrugated operations
o Corrugator
o Converting
o Shipping
o Reliability and Maintenance

Other Qualifications: To perform the duties of the job, this role requires:
  • Working on plant floor to include participating in training, troubleshooting and 5S events
  • Long days of presenting, training and plant floor mentoring of 12 or more hours on regular basis
  • Crossing conveyors and platforms in plants
Work Environment:
  • Travel 75-80% of time around region plants
  • Work in office environment 25% of time with 75% in corrugated plants
What you need to succeed:
Required:
  • 5 -7 years of experience in operations management role (superintendent/plant/operations mgr, reliability mgr, general manager or equivalent)
  • Proven track record of change management – ability to make positive impact in key performance indicators
  • Experience developing and mentoring people in their career paths to achieve their potential – either in current or new positions
  • Preferred: Work experience in corrugated
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher; engineering preferred
Required: Green Belt completion
Preferred: Black Belt completion
