Carnegie Mellon University's Police Department (UPD) is searching for Security Officers who are highly motivated and eager to serve the CMU community! In this role you will be required to work a flexible schedule/hours, which includes working mandated overtime and continuation of regular tour of duty.

Core responsibilities will include:
- Conducting watchperson rounds of university buildings and areas to ensure the safety and security of the campus, the assigned sector, and its occupants/users
- Reporting suspicious activity, persons, and conditions immediately
- Providing escorts to students, staff, and faculty members
- Providing general assistance to campus police officers
- Providing general information to university personnel and visitors
- Performing foot patrol on campus grounds in all weather conditions and temperatures
You Must Demonstrate:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact with a varied population
- Ability to remain calm in difficult, dangerous, and high stress emergency situations, and respond to all campus constituents in a professional and polite manner
- Knowledge of and ability to accurately use standard police radio Ten Codes
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior work experience in security related role; previous security training preferred
- Or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge is proven
- Preferred: Act 235, CRR, AED, First Responder, and EMT certification/commission; CDL license
- Join the CMU Campus Police Association
Requirements:
- Successful Background Check
- PA Child Protection Clearances (Act 153)
- Valid PA driver's license; OSHA Hazardous Materials on the job Safety Training
- Fitness for duty assessment and pre-employment medical exam
