Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary
The Field Training Coordinator monitors and supports the overall apprentice training program for an assigned geographic area. This emp loyee will monitor and track all phases of the apprentice training program and will identify and correct conditions or situations that interfere with the efficient training and timely progression of all apprentices. Job responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
MANAGE THE TRAINING PROCESS: Monitor and support the overall apprentice training program for the assigned geographic area. Monitor and track all phases of the apprentice training program and identify and correct conditions or situations that interfere with the efficient training and timely progression of all apprentices.
MONITOR APPRENTICE PROGRESS: Monitor the progress of all apprentices by reviewing written and electronic records, conducting telephone interviews and by visiting field-training sites for personal observations of training activities. Conduct private, face-to-face interviews with each assigned apprentice at intervals not to exceed six weeks.
COORDINATE TRAINING EVENTS: Monitor apprentice training accomplishments and remaining training requirements. Maintain an up-to-date listing of field work suitable for apprentice training and will coordinate with the apprentice's supervisor to suggest appropriate work assignments to ensure efficient timing and sequencing of training events.
SUPPORT ASSIGNED APPRENTICES: As necessary, provide training resources, guidance, advice and facilitate access to technical experts to support all persons who have a role in the apprentice training process.
MAINTAIN TRAINING RECORDS: Collect, verify, input and update apprentice and supervisor information maintained in the electronic database maintained at the Livermore school.
DEVELOP CORRECTIVEACTION PLANS: In conjunction with the apprentice's supervisor, co-develop corrective action plans that are timely and efficient in the resolution of training deficiencies.
CONDUCT FORMAL EVALUATIONS: As required, perform formal evaluations of apprentice performance during field visits. Monitor and report on the performance of the field trainers during field visits. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.

Position will require up to approximately 30% of travel time in work schedule.

Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $50.00 to $84.13

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Qualifications-

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience in Technical trade, journey level, 4 years, or equivalent experience

Desired Qualifications:
College degree in engineering or technical subject area or equivalent experience preferred
Technical Training Certification (COMPTIA) desired
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies
Ability to instruct apprentices/students to impart technical knowledge in classroom environment as well as physical skills in field environment
Research standard methodologies at other utilities and incorporate into apprentice management
Ability to observe, coach and mentor students in field/yare and in
classroom
Qualified to instruct at least one technical training course

Responsibilities
Handles apprentice training progress of 30-50 apprentices. Coordinates sequence of training events.
Develops and implements corrective action plans.
Conducts formal evaluations.
Reports out on progress at JATC Meetings as required.
Provides training resources, guidance, and advice to support apprentice programs.
Maintain records in electronic database.
Acts as field trainer to aid apprentice development.
Interfaces with senior manager or director level for required report- outs (compliance and related issues).
Assist Experts in providing first-hand expert opinions during JATC fact-finding presentations.
Provide input as to requirements/changes used to update the Master Apprentice Agreement (MAA).
