LOS GATOS, CA /
E-SPACE – SPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEERING /
FULL-TIME
/ ON-SITE

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!
At E-Space, we’re focused on bridging Earth and space with the world’s most sustainable low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network. We’re a team of bold thinkers, ambitious leaders and dynamic doers—and we’re disrupting NewSpace by fundamentally changing the design of legacy LEO space systems to deliver entirely new satellite capabilities at a fraction of the cost.
We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed—to saving space, to protecting our planet and to turning connectivity into actionable intelligence.

What is the role?
As a Senior GNC Mechatronics engineer, you will focus on the integration of sensors and actuators into the physical satellite platform and mission-critical flight software. This is a hands-on position, and you will engage with E-Space GNC, hardware, avionics, and software engineers to procure, design, validate, test, and operate GNC hardware that meets required behavior and performance on board our satellites.

This position will report to the GNC Lead and will be based in Los Gatos, CA.

What you will do

    • Trade studies, requirements' definition and subsequent procurement or in-house designs of GNC sensing systems and actuators
    • Manage characterization, qualification, and acceptance test planning and execution, including design and development of in-house test jigs
    • Develop interfaces with flight software and avionics teams, including working with sensor/actuator drivers, firmware, and communication protocols
    • Develop interface PCBs for sensors and actuators, including requirements, layout, and design verification testing
    • Develop sensor models and fusion algorithms and testing them on the hardware
    • Design and implement software tools for ground and in-orbit calibration
    • Manage processing, visualization and evaluation of orbit data to assess sensor and actuator behavior and performance
    • Interact cross-functionally with other subsystem engineers, providing expertise as needed
    • Design review participation, presentation and documentation

Why you're the right candidate

    • You have a Bachelor of Science/Master's/PhD in Software, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent plus 3-5 years' experience in relevant fields
    • You have knowledge of spacecraft sensors and actuators and familiarity with key constraints and trades for low-Earth orbit satellites
    • You have experience designing, developing and operating LEO satellite sensors (gyroscopes, star trackers, magnetometers, GPS/GNSS receivers, Earth sensors, sun sensors, etc.) and actuators (magnetorquers, reaction wheels, propulsion, etc.)
    • You have experience with schematic capture and PCB design for aerospace or robotics applications
    • You have hands-on experience with building and debugging hardware
    • You have experience with hardware-in-the-loop simulations
    • You have experience in implementing and testing controllers and Kalman filters
    • You have software development experience, preferably with Matlab, Python, C/C++
    • You have demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, start-up environment and ability to manage competing priorities
    • You're a highly proactive team player with excellent technical communication and presentation skills

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.
