Hybrid - Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is that the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.

About the Role:

In this software development role, you will be responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will have the opportunity to work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications. Development activities will include updating existing software and/or developing new software solutions to address a specific need or solve a particular business problem. Additionally, you will drive development activities in accordance with appropriate methodologies and application of a repeatable, systematic and quantifiable approach to the development process. You will coach/mentor software developers and will review the software being developed. This role will also work closely with architects and/or data scientists to ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks.

The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for the development and management of key elements of the infrastructure supporting the IT Portfolio Management Systems and Reporting tools, full automation of build and deployment processes supporting the GM IT application development. The senior software developer will provide a hands-on support for COTS tools setup and configuration, application build configuration, application configuration management and will ensure adoption and adherence standard processes, procedures, and the best practices.

Major Duties/Responsibilities :

  • The ideal candidate has past experiences successfully leading and solving complex software problems at the enterprise-level. These experiences should include both significant breadth and depth of supporting multiple technical workstreams.
  • Install and configure COTS tools in space of IT Portfolio Management Systems and Reporting tools.
  • Responsible for COTS and Custom developed tools security compliance, upgrades, patching, tools uptime and issue remediation using automation.
  • Use automated processes to build/test/deploy a custom developer application.
  • Write build and deployment scripts
  • Continual maintenance and improvement of COTS and Custom developed tools automation processes
  • Partner with product owner, architect, and the team to create secure, reliable, and scalable software solutions

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a technical discipline
  • 6+ years of software development experience in Java or another object-oriented language creating services and configuration management
  • Experience with CI/CD Engines (TFS, Chef, Azure)
  • Experience in scripting skills, Apache Maven, PowerShell, and Python
  • Experience with Oracle, Postgres, and MS SQL relational databases
  • Understanding of WebLogic/Tomcat of integrating different software tools to drive automated traceability of requirements to code, to test, deployment of code components into production, and application build automation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate and translate feedback, needs and solutions
  • Creative problem-solving skills that deliver elegant solutions to complex issues
  • Strong teamwork focus (live by the team, die by the team) and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams

Additional Job Description

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferably at least 6+ years of development experience
  • Experience with Java Microservices and containerized deployment using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Working experience with build and deployment automation
  • Experience in management of the IT Portfolio Management Systems and Reporting tools: PPM, IBM Cognos, Power BI, Tableau
  • Working level experience in development tools such as Microsoft TFS/RM, Artifactory, SonarQube, Apache Maven
