Starting Pay Rate: $24.10/hour Grade 30/Step 1 for all new employees
Full Pay Range: $24.10-$35.11 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for accounts payable or accounts receivable accounting functions for the agency and contributes to the collection, maintenance, and reporting of timely and accurate financial and accounting information. This is the first tier of a three-tiered position and incumbents at this level are expected to solve basic accounting problems.

Essential Function Summaries
Accounts Receivable Desk

  • Audit transactions of subcontractors, including ensuring allowable expenses, and rent, utilities, subsidies, legal fees, damages, and late fees are all posted accurately during the month.
  • Assist as needed in applying cash receipts to tenant ledgers and reconcile bank deposits.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable Filing.
Accounts Payable Desk

  • Reconcile travel expenses ensuring all travel voucher submissions are accurate, documentation is complete, and adhere to BHA policy.
  • Process invoices, including verifying expenses, accurately coding expenses, and entering them into system for Manager review.
  • Match purchase orders with invoices and receiving documents and check for accuracy and review open purchase orders at month end for the accrual entry.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable Filing
  • Update Utility Tracking Worksheet
Additional Functions of Both Desks

  • Act as an Accounting Liaison to Property Managers and third-party contractors via telephone and email.
  • Pickup and sort Finance Department mail.
  • Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

Education: Associates Degree (two-year college or technical school): Required, Field of Study: Accounting preferred but can include Business Administration, or other relevant subject.

Experience: 2 plus years of experience in full-time accounting and/or full charge bookkeeping.

Bremerton Housing Authority has the discretion to accept any other equivalent combination of education and experience when relevant.

Computer Skills:
  • Intermediate user of MS Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be proficient in using accounting software.
  • Experience with Yardi preferred.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, adding machines, photocopiers, and fax machines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is primarily an office position. The employee primarily sits at a desk but has the opportunity to move about at will. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate various types of office equipment. The employee will occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
