Job Title: Cardiac Device Specialist
Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Cardiac Device Specialist is responsible for performing interrogations, interpretations and programming Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICDs). Uses EMR (EPIC) software to enter patient data and provides reports for the physicians and patient medical record. A high standard of advanced clinical knowledge in dealing with patients with implanted devices is required. This position works closely with highly skilled staff, electrophysiologists and cardiologists to manage cardiac device needs.

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred: EKG interpretation

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Required: One year “face-to-face” clinical cardiology and EP experience interpreting, programming and educating patients on medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators
OR Completion of Arrhythmia Technology Institute (ATI) Jumpstart Device Training Program within 12 months of start date (a signed condition of employment will be required)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and the ability to learn other computer skills.
Must have good organizational skills and work professionally with Providers, hospital administration and management, SEP employees and the public. Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team-based, decision-making culture.
Demonstrated ability to work independently resulting in effective outcomes and on-time performance.
Experience in planning and coordinating multi-disciplinary communications strategies, strategic initiatives, and events.
Must respond and follow through to requests from customers promptly.
Must work carefully and precisely with attention to detail.
Must utilize resources wisely. Performs duties willingly and with initiative. Shares necessary information so co-workers can do the same. Cooperates with other departments and work groups.

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Preferred knowledge and management of various processes related to implantable ICDs, pacemakers, loop recorders and CRT/ICM cardiac devices.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Required : Successful completed of ATI Jumpstart program within 12 months (if required - see years of experience).

Direct communication with a patient in a language other than English requires the associate to complete an assessment to become Qualified Bilingual Staff (QBS). The associate is required to complete CBLs and future assessments to maintain QBS status.
