The Heritage Community is a residential treatment program for adolescents, ages 13 – 18. We have our own Rocky Mountain Café to prepare and serve meals for our students and employees. We currently seek to hire a Nutrition Coordinator to assist in the management of the café, and to promote a healthy, well-balanced nutritional diet for everyone served!
The incumbent will work consistently with our Registered Dietitian, Nutrition Manager, and Cooks to coordinator, plan, and communicate all menus, special diets, etc. We are in search of someone who is visionary and strategic with goals, who demonstrates excellent planning and organization skills, and who can be a positive leader for our café! Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Shift times can be flexible.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Competence of Child Nutrition Program regulations from the Utah State Board of Education.
- Knowledge of National School Lunch Program.
- Leadership skills, with ability to strategize and plan effectively to accomplish goals and our nutritional purpose.
- Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details.
- Solid communication skills to correspond special diets effectively or other nutritional information to affiliated caregivers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet weekly with Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Manager to coordinate and plan all menus and special diet information for the students. Then, communicate this information to the Cooks and Residential Care leadership in a timely manner.
- Assure compliance with the Child Nutrition Program, according to the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). Accurately file monthly report / claim to the USBE.
- Keep record of meal counts during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.
- Prepare weekly invoice reports to be processed by the Finance department.
- Work with various departments for planning company events and activities, when food services will be applicable.
- Track status updates and keep files for all café procedures and regulations (i.e., Food Handler’s Permits, health inspections, etc.).
- Coordinate with the Nutrition Manager to prepare agendas for team meetings, and take minutes for meetings, as directed.
- As needed, help all café personnel in their duties, including but not limited to: meal preparation, dishwashing, cleaning kitchen, stocking supplies, clearing trash, etc.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-year previous kitchen experience required.
- Completed Bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science or Dietetics highly preferred.
- Current Food Handler’s Permit or ServSafe Certification.
- Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
- Fluency in Spanish, a plus.
