Job description

Do you have experience as a canvasser during the elections? Are you comfortable going door-to-door? Consider applying for this position. No experience needed. We will teach you everything you need to know.

Working efficiently in 4-6 hour blocks of time, mostly evenings and weekends, traveling to a variety of neighborhoods to screen households for eligibility to participate in the Health and Retirement Study. To thrive in this position you must be comfortable using a laptop, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and be able to establish trust.

For more than 20 years, the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) has been a leading source for information on the health and economic circumstances of adults over age 50 in the United States. By asking select individuals to participate in the study and tell us about their lives, HRS paints an invaluable portrait of America's older adults. Scientists have used this information to publish over 3,500 books, articles and papers.

Here’s what we get asked most often:

· $20.00/hour (includes a $3.00 screening differential)

· $300 retention incentive after three months of successful production work

· Minimum of 15 hours per week

· Must be able to work evenings and weekends

· Mandatory training in Ann Arbor, Michigan February 15th - 19th, 2023

· All training time is paid

· Mileage reimbursement for all business travel

· Coaching and mentoring to help you flourish

· You must live in the Las Vegas area

· $2/hour differential for certified English/Spanish bilingual interviewers (bilingual not required)

· Flexible hours

The screener's job requires working with a diverse group of people and cold calling. Cold calling means you will be visiting households who may not be expecting your visit. You will establish trust at the doorstep performing a brief screening interview to determine if a member of the household is eligible to participate in the study.

Screeners will be trained to administer a short screening interview at the doorstep, recording data accurately using a tablet.
