North Fork Builders is a Bozeman, Montana based general contractor that specializes in thoughtfully designed and strategically executed residential and commercial buildings. We are currently looking for a Safety Specialist who will audit and implement site-specific safety plans and support our field in achieving a safe workplace.

LOCATION:
This position is based out of our Bozeman, MT office but will be required to travel to our jobsites around Montana frequently. Our jobsite locations include Bozeman, Big Sky, Big Timber, Augusta, and Kalispell.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Developing, reviewing, updating, and communicating the site-specific safety plan (SSSP) to everyone including subcontractors
• Collaborate with the field every day to encourage buy-in of our safety program
• Conduct jobsite safety audits to ensure the SSSP is being followed and enforced
• Conduct various safety trainings, including but not limited to fall protection and scaffolding
• Exercise Stop Work responsibility to ensure adherence to company policies, regulations, and detailed work plans
• Encourage, support, inspire, and advise employees to execute the SSSP
• Oversee equipment and OSHA trainings including Forklift, Manlift, and OSHA 10/30 trainings
• Maintain DOT Driver files and annual DOT requirements
• Acquisition, distribution, and inventory of all safety equipment
• Maintain project files in compliance with OSHA regulations and in compliance with our policies
• Maintain accident/injury claims, files, and OSHA 300 logs, assist with investigations, and develop return to work program
• Assist with insurance renewals and audits

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces
• Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime and weekends as required by the workload
• Able to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments

QUALIFICATIONS:

• The ability to travel as needed
• OSHA 30 required (OSHA 500 and 510 certifications preferred but not required)
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study is preferred
• Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements
• Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred
• Working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies
• Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates
• Reliable transportation and valid driver license are required

WAGES AND BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 DOE
