The Walloon Lake General Store has been serving customers in Northern Michigan for almost 125 years. Longer than the town has been called Walloon Lake! Summary

The Assistant Store Manager will plan and lead the daily operations of an assigned store in an ongoing effort to increase store sales and profitability.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Develops and implements strategies to improve customer service and experience on an ongoing basis.

• Ensures a consistent, efficient, pleasant customer experience; resolves any customer service issues, complaints, or requests.
• Continually seeks and identifies methods to increase store sales and profitability; makes recommendations and/or implements changes as appropriate.
• Ensures physical maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and attractiveness of all store facilities.
• Assists in and/or implements inventory control and security systems.
• Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must have excellent customer service skills
• Must have basic verbal, reading and mathematics skills
• Must be able to follow basic menu instructions

QUALIFICATIONS

• Retail experience is preferred but not required-willing to train qualified candidates

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to work in warm and cold environments
• Must be able to stand, kneel, squat, bend and stretch for limited periods of time
• Must be able to lift to 25lbs
• Must be able to safely use cutting utensils, operate and maintain meat slicer and weigh scales
• Must be bale to maintain strict cleaning and sanitation schedule of department
